Mary Lynne Derrington is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She received a doctorate in policy, governance and administration from the University of Washington. Before entering the professorate, Derrington served 18 years as a school superintendent. She was also a principal, teacher, and curriculum director serving at all preK-12 levels including work with the International School system in the Netherlands. She is the program coordinator for the K-12 Leadership Doctor of Education (EdD). Her research interests examine teacher and principal evaluation, supervision, and instructional leadership. She teaches courses in leadership, ethics, and personnel administration. Derrington is the 2023 Distinguished Research Award recipient in the AERA Supervision & Instructional Leadership SIG.
